Surf n Skate by Tuesday of next week. Also, if you'd like to exchange
sizes, bring your CLEAN shirt to the shop and trade it in for the one
you want.

SURF SESSION this friday:
Hey guys, so a little change of plans in the location of the surf
sesh. The swell on friday should be coming in pretty steep from the
south, somewhere between 190 and 197 degrees, so scripps probably
won't have much size to it due to blockage from the la jolla cove.
Anyways, we will be having this friday's surf sesh at 15th street in
del mar. Be suited up and ready to go at 2:30 at the seagrove park(the
grassy area directly in front of the beach). Koji and I will still be
giving rides to the first 6 people to reply to this email. We will
meet at Sungod parking lot at 2pm and leave shortly thereafter. See
you guys there.

DIRECTIONS TO 15TH STREET:
North on Interstate 5
Take the Del Mar Heights Rd exit and turn left
Make a right on Camino Del Mar
Take a left turn at 15th street
Turn right at the 3-way stop sign at the end of 15th street (i think
its Coast Blvd.)
Seagrove Park will be directly to your left. Find parking just north
of the park, where all the houses are.

more MOVIE NIGHT STUFF
We have a Sector9 skateboard to give away tomorrow night, as well as
some Headhunter sunscreen and 40% off coupons for Spy online orders.
The raffle will be at 8:45. All members will receive a free raffle
ticket. There are about 20 hot dogs left over from Learn2Surf Day
that we can throw on the grill, first come first serve. Hope to see

Surf Movie Night & Blacks Tour Thusday and Saturday!!

What up everybody. Thanks a lot to everyone who helped out at
learn2surf day. Hope all you first timers had fun and are planning on
going out more now that you're all shredders. If you guys want to go
out but don't have the equipment, you can rent out the Liquid
Shredders we used or purchase the 9Fish boards ($50 off for surf club
members) at Muir Surf and Skate. Let us know if you lost a pair of
sandals on Sunday-we've got them. This week is loaded with Surf Club
stuff 3 days in a row, thursday-saturday.

MOVIE NIGHT: This Thursday, Oct. 23rd
We are trying something new for the first movie night of the year.
Instead of it being at the Price Center Theater, we are holding a
movie night off-campus at the Surf Club House. Come see the place the
Surf Club has called home for the past 7 years!! Starting at 7:00, we
will serve refreshments and have a variety of surf movies running throughout
the night. Other entertainment includes a tree house and pool
table. The movie projector and seats will be set up outside so bring
a sweatshirt. The address of the house, which is located right at the
border of Pacific Beach and La Jolla, is:

Mapquest that shit and drive or better yet, take the bus. The 30 passes right by the house and runs til past midnight. You can get off the 30 at La Jolla Blvd. and Sea Ridge, or
La Jolla Blvd. and Turquoise (at the West End Bar). Check out
http://www.sdmts.com/Bus/Bus.asp and click on the "30" for a map and
schedule. It's hard to see the address at the house, but we are right
next to a house with a white picket fence. Also, look for a pirate
flag flying high above the trees-that's the house.

BLACKS TOUR AND SURF SESSION: This Saturday, Oct. 25th, 9:30am at the
Blacks gate
Come learn all about UCSD's claim to surf fame, Blacks Beach.
Isabelle Kay from the Scripps Natural Reserve will give a tour down
the road to Blacks describing the rare surrounding vegetation and the
history of Blacks' unique geology. The tour will take 20-30 minutes.
If you'd like, bring a surfboard and you will be showered with good
waves at the bottom of the hill, as the tide/wind/swell should be
perfect for Blacks. This is within WALKING DISTANCE FROM CAMPUS so
you freshmen have no excuses. Just take La Jolla Shores Rd. off of N.
Torrey Pines Rd. (behind Revelle) then take your first right onto La
Jolla Farms Rd. Walk about a quarter mile until you see the SECOND
gate on your left side. It is at the top of a paved road that leads
down a hill. We will meet at the gate at 9:30 and leave by 9:45. The
walk is about 10-20 minutes depending on where you're coming from on
campus.

Weekly Surf Sesh and Learn 2 Surf Signups

LEARN 2 SURF INFO:
There are still some spots available for the 9am surf lesson. Email
us if you'd like to sign up for that session. Once again, you must be
a member to take part in L2S day, but you can sign up for the lesson
without being a member and pay your $20 dues at the beach on Sunday.
Our tent will be up on the beach, probably towards the south end of La
Jolla Shores Beach, but you'll definitely see it wherever it is. In
addition to boards and wetsuits, burgers (beef and Boca) will also be
provided as well as water.

WEEKLY SURF SESSION INFO:
Whats up surf clubbers! Hope you all enjoyed the meeting/concert last
friday. Well, this week's surf session will be on thursday morning at
scripps. We'll be meeting at the scripps parking lot by the stairs at
7:30am (that means in your wetsuit ready to paddle out at 7:30).

For those of you who live on campus and do not have a way of getting
to the beach, Koji and I will be offering rides to the first 6 people
to reply email us at ucsdsurfclub@gmail.com. We will meet at the sungod
statue at 7 and leave by 7:08. I have a class at 9:30 and i'm sure many of
you do too, so my car will be returning to campus by 9:15.

If you haven't paid for you surf club membership, then you will not be
receiving emails for future surf sessions after this week. Don't worry just
yet; you can still pay your dues at the Muir Surf and Skate shop and
you will still receive emails for select events.

These surf sessions are a great way to meet new people and surf
buddies. There will be plenty of waves to go around on thursday so
come hang out, take a break from school, and meet your fellow club
members. Take notice that although these surf sessions are for all
levels of surfers, gear and instruction will not be offered. We will
see you guys on thursday either at Sungod by 7:08 or down at the
Scripps parking lot by 7:30.

Weekly Surf Session

Tomorrow, Friday October 10th, is our first surf session. It is going to be at 2:45pm at Scripps. That means be in your wetsuit ready to surf at the Scripps parking lot at 2:45. RIDES: Meet Scott and/or Koji at the Sungod statue (idol?) between 2:05 and 2:20. They will drive you down and then back up afterwards. Keep in mind that tomorrow afternoon there might be a little size, current, and wind. Future surf sessions will be based around optimal surf conditions.

Once a week you will receive an email from Scott and Koji letting you know where and when the surf session is going to be (the email will come at least 2 nights before). The surf session time/location changes weekly, depending on swell/wind/tides. Surf sessions are usually in the morningtime, and rides are occasionally provided. Gear and instruction are not provided at these sessions. For the first two surf sessions only, club membership will not be required. This is a good way to find other surfers at UCSD to surf with throughout the week.

How to SIGN UP: The first time to sign up for a time slot is at the meeting this Friday. Anytime after that you can email us with the time you want and we will email you back to let you know if that time is available. You must be a paid member to participate in L2S Day, but you can sign up for a time and pay for your membership at the beach on the day of L2S if you haven't already paid. Remember, membership is only $20 for the entire year. L2S Day is located at La Jolla Shores Beach just down the road from campus. You won't miss the tent we'll have set up at the beach. All the boards and wetsuits will be provided, so you don't need to bring anything. Hamburgers, Boca burgers, and water will also be provided!! You can take the Bus #30 from several spots on campus to get down to the beach (go to Gilman Parking Structure or http://www.sdmts.com/Bus/Bus.asp for more info on bus routes and schedules)

Surf Club meeting & FREE SURFBOARD from Muir Surf

Here's the info for our opening meeting. Any and everyone is welcome to come check out what the Surf Club is all about. We've got something for everyone, whether you're an experienced surfer, just want to learn, or you're just interested in the UC San Diego surf scene.
